About the ingredients

Berberine is a plant compound found in several botanical species used in traditional herbal practice.

Ceylon cinnamon is a culinary spice obtained from the bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree.

Chromium is a trace mineral. The body uses it in small amounts as part of normal carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.

Black pepper is included here for the piperine it contains, the naturally occurring alkaloid that gives black pepper its bite.

What it's for

  • The Health Canada-licensed uses for Kasha Nutrition Blood Sugar Health read:
  • In plain language: this formula sits in the daily-routine category for people who want to support how their body handles glucose as part of a broader picture that includes diet, movement, and the rest of their lifestyle. It's not a treatment for a blood sugar condition. If that's what you're looking for, we advise talking to your healthcare provider.

How to take it

  • Take 1 capsule twice daily, with meals.
  • A common pattern is one capsule with breakfast and one with dinner. Taking it with food is gentler on the stomach.

What to expect

Individual responses may vary. Your healthcare provider can help you decide what's best for your situation.

Before you start

These cautionary notes come with the Health Canada licence.

Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use if you:

  • Are taking any other medications or natural health products, as black pepper / piperine may alter their effectiveness, and berberine is known to affect the metabolism of numerous drugs
  • Have a kidney disorder or diabetes
  • Have hypoglycemia or hypotension
  • Have liver disease or cardiovascular disease

Consult a healthcare practitioner if symptoms worsen or persist for more than 2 weeks.

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you experience sweating, paleness, chills, headache, dizziness, or confusion, discontinue use and consult a healthcare practitioner, as these may be symptoms of serious low blood sugar.

This formula is generally well tolerated. If your stomach is on the sensitive side, take it with food and a full glass of water.

The adverse reaction language, as printed on the label:

May cause gastrointestinal discomfort such as constipation, vomiting, abdominal pain or diarrhea, in which case discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner.

Common questions

Is it suitable for both men and women? +

Yes, for any adult 19 or older.

Can I take it with my medications? +

We always recommend talking with your healthcare provider before combining any supplement with prescription medication. This formula is specifically flagged for medication interactions on the licence (berberine affects how many drugs are metabolized, and piperine can change how certain drugs are absorbed). Your provider knows your full picture.

Can I take it alongside other supplements? +

We always recommend talking to your healthcare provider before combining any supplements. Every body is different, and your provider knows your personal health history best. If they give you the green light, we suggest introducing one supplement at a time and seeing how your body responds before adding the next.

Can I take it if I have diabetes? +

Please check with your healthcare provider first. Diabetes is specifically flagged in the cautions on this licence, since the formula contains ingredients that may affect blood sugar and may need to be timed or balanced against any medication you're already taking.

When's the best time to take it? +

With meals. Most people take one capsule with breakfast and one with dinner.

Can I take more than 2 capsules a day? +

The Health Canada-licensed dose is 1 capsule twice daily. If you're considering a higher dose, talk with your healthcare provider first.

Can I take it during pregnancy or breastfeeding? +

No. The formula is not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Do you offer other bottle sizes or subscriptions? +

Our current size is 60 capsules. We're always working on expanding our catalogue with new sizes and product lines, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, you can find us on Amazon at our Amazon storefront, where we run ongoing promotions, offer Subscribe & Save, and bulk-purchase discounts at checkout.
