The story behind Shilajit
What Shilajit is
Shilajit is a tar-like mineral pitch that seeps from rock faces in the Himalayas and other high-altitude mountains across South and Central Asia. It forms over centuries as plant material is compressed within rock layers under geological pressure. The two compounds most often associated with Shilajit in modern characterization are fulvic acid and trace minerals. In Ayurvedic tradition, it's classified as a rasayana, a substance used to support rejuvenation.
Purified, not raw
Raw Shilajit varies a lot in quality. This category has well-known concerns around contamination, so we use a purified, standardized version. Every capsule delivers 250 mg, with fulvic acid standardized to 50%. Consistent potency, bottle to bottle.
Capsule, not resin
Some customers come looking for the traditional resin format. We make Shilajit in capsules because the purified, standardized format is what's licensed under our NPN, and because the capsule is easier to dose consistently. Same 250 mg every time. No measuring needed.
What Shilajit supports
- Shilajit is traditionally used in Ayurveda as Rasayana (rejuvenation) tonic
- Shilajit is traditionally used in Ayurveda to help alleviate painful urination associated with urinary tract disorders
- Helps support normal free and total testosterone levels in men between 45-55 years
A typical day
- 1 capsule, 2 times per day, as directed on the label
- A common pattern: one capsule with the morning routine, one mid-day. Leaving the late evening clear works well
- Consistency is what matters most. Same times, every day
Giving it time
We recommend using it as directed on the label, alongside the rest of what supports your overall health: sleep, nutrition, and movement all play their part.
Everyone's body responds differently, and your healthcare provider can help you figure out what's right for your situation.

What people ask us
Is it suitable for both men and women? +
Adults 19 years and over may use this product according to the labelled directions. The traditional Ayurvedic rasayana and urinary-tract uses listed on the label apply to all adults. The testosterone-support claim is licensed specifically for men aged 45 to 55, the population the supporting research is built around.
Can I take it with my medication? +
The NPN flags one specific caution here: check in with your healthcare provider before starting if you have diabetes or take medication to regulate blood sugar. For any other prescription medication, your healthcare provider is the right person to check with.
Can I stack it with other supplements? +
Always a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider before combining supplements. Everyone's different, and your provider knows your personal health history best. If they give you the green light, the simplest approach is to introduce one supplement at a time and see how your body responds before adding the next.
Why does the dose say "men aged 45 to 55"? Can younger men take it? +
Great question, and a common one. The Health Canada-licensed testosterone-support claim is specifically scoped to men aged 45 to 55, the population the supporting research covers. If you're outside that age window and you're considering Shilajit specifically for testosterone support, your healthcare provider can help you decide whether it's the right fit.
Why a capsule and not a resin? +
We make Shilajit in a purified, standardized 250 mg capsule. The capsule format is what we've licensed under our NPN, and it's much easier to dose consistently than raw resin. The fulvic acid is standardized to 50%, so every capsule is the same. The traditional resin format has its purists, but the capsule is what we make.
Why is the "hot natured foods" caution on the label? +
This one comes from Ayurvedic dietary classification, which the Health Canada licence references directly. In Ayurveda, certain foods are considered "hot natured" (think chili peppers, garlic, raw onions, alcohol, red meat). The traditional guidance is to avoid combining Shilajit with them. We've kept the caution verbatim from the licence. If you have questions about how it applies to your own diet, your healthcare practitioner is the best person to ask.
What about heavy metals? I've read raw Shilajit can be contaminated.? +
Legitimate concern, and worth answering directly. Raw Shilajit from poor sources can contain heavy metals. That's exactly why Health Canada licenses purified, standardized versions specifically. Every batch of our Shilajit goes through independent third-party testing for heavy metals, microbiology, and fulvic acid potency. Full transparency. See the testing section below for how to get the results for your specific bottle.
Does this contain any common allergens? +
Purified Shilajit is vegan, non-GMO, sugar-free, wheat and gluten free, soy free, sesame free, mustard free, egg free, lupin free, mollusk free, sulphite free, and cruelty-free, and free from artificial colors and preservatives. If you have a specific allergen concern not listed here, drop us a note and we'll confirm.
Do you sell larger bottles or a subscription? +
Our Purified Shilajit comes in a 120 capsule bottle, a 2 month supply at the recommended dose. We're always working on expanding our catalogue with new sizes and product lines, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, you can find us on Amazon at our Amazon storefront, where we run ongoing promotions, offer Subscribe & Save, and bulk-purchase discounts at checkout.
What if it doesn't agree with me? +
Finding the right supplement is personal, and we want to help you find your match. If your first bottle doesn't agree with you for any reason, send a note to info@kashanutrition.com with your Order ID. We'll refund you in full under our first-order satisfaction policy. Refunds typically land in 3 to 5 business days.
What should I expect when the bottle arrives? +
Every bottle gets checked before it ships, and it's sealed twice over: a clear shrink wrap on the outside, and a tamper-evident foil under the cap. From there, Amazon takes over. We use Amazon FBA, so they handle our storage and shipping. The bottle arrives either in a small box or a padded Amazon mailer. Both are normal. If anything looks off when it arrives, just reach out and we'll take care of it.
Third-party testing
Every batch is independently third-party tested. A sample report is available here.
